The higher the mineral content of your water, the more of it you absorb
Add celtic sea salt to increase your water's mineral content for better hydration
If you ever consciously increased your water intake, you have no doubt noticed that your trips to the bathroom also became more frequent. That is if you just drank tap water or even bottled water. The reason is: water is hardly hydrating on its own.
Fats are a lot more hydrating than water on its own is. That will be a topic of a different article, though.
Water, without minerals simply goes through your system. It is the fastest thing to travel through your digestive tract. There's very little of it absorbed. In order for water to hydrate you, it needs to be bound to different minerals. Celtic sea salt has 80+ minerals and trace minerals in it. It readily dissolves in water and water molecules easily bind to those minerals, hence making the water easily absorbable to the body at the same time increasing mineral absorption too.
If you've ever been sick, your body quickly uses the minerals and electrolytes that are stored in your system, which in turn dehydrate you (no minerals to bind to so you lose water.) This is the main reason you're told to drink lots of fluids and eat soups if you're ever sick. If it gets out of hand and you visit your doctor or get sent to a hospital, they'll give you intravenous saline, which is in the simplest terms, salt water. That's the fastest way to rehydrate you.
Most bottled water (besides a large part of it being a scam) hardly has any minerals in it. Only a few brands do and they tend to be the expensive kind. Evian and Fiji water spring to mind along with Gerolsteiner, Perrier and San Pellegrino. There is no really pure water in the United States anymore. All of these waters I mentioned come from outside of the United States.
There are quite a few others as well which are harder to find than the above. Look for water bottled in glass with a minimum mineral content of 200 parts per million (ppt) which should be noted on the bottle.
Otherwise, add a pinch of sea salt to every quart of pure water you drink or even to bottled water. Remember, the purest water is ozonated, followed by ionized then reverse osmosis.
If you live outside of North America, you'll have better luck finding clean, spring water.
Let me know what you notice after adding celtic sea salt to your water for a few days.
