What Are The Side Effects of Bodybuilding Supplements ?
Many bodybuilders take supplements in order to speed up and enhance the results of their workouts. While working out is essential to a bodybuilder's strength and muscle tone, it can also take a lot of time and hard work in order to achieve the desired results. Although common, bodybuilders will often take extra doses of caffeine in order to give them more energy and concentration during their workouts. However, caffeine can have many side effects, including heart palpitations, nervousness, diarrhea, and dehydration.
Another bodybuilding supplement that has negative side effects are "prosteroid" supplements. While they build muscle mass and overall strength, they also increase the risk of heart disease. Other side effects include a lowered sex drive.
The appeal to bodybuilding supplements is not only the faster desired results, but also the notion that there are safe options out there that act as vitamins and provide the body with nutrients. Glutamine is one of these supplements and has no known side effects. Glutamine already occurs naturally in the body and helps to keep the immune system working properly. Sometimes your glutamine levels are lowered because of intense workouts, so taking glutamine will help keep your body working in tip-top shape.
Creatine is another favorite of bodybuilders. Creatine provides quick results and allows for bodybuilders to jump back quicker after an intense workout. Creatine also helps to build muscle mass. Besides causing occasional dehydration, creatine has no side effects and is considered to be safe for those who work out often.
The trick to using any type of bodybuilding supplement is that it has to be part of a strict diet and exercise regimen. Bodybuilding supplements can provide the body with much needed nutrients and help aid in muscle repair when taken correctly. Taking too much of any type of bodybuilding supplement can possibly cause side effects. To help make an informed decision, it's always best to contact a trainer or a doctor to see which bodybuilding supplement would work best with your diet and workout schedule.
