Bodybuilding and Sex FAQ
Q.
"Please help me! I'm working out 3-4 times a week and especially during
and after my workouts i feel very excited. Now I heard that I should avoid
having sex the best possible. Is this true ? If yes, why?"
A.
Abstaining will barely make any difference at all. Post-intercourse testosterone levels drop, but
only for 1-2 hours. They then return to normal levels. Abstaining
will not put you in some anabolic hyper-testosterone state. Also, there's ample evidence to show that
human beings lead happier, healthier lives if they have
an active sex life and loving relationships.
On the practice of abstaining from sex prior to a competition,
Schwarzenegger in a 1977 interview rejected that approach: "I have sex on purpose. I can't sleep
before a competition and I'm up all night, anyway, so instead of staring at
the ceiling I figure I might as well find somebody and have sex."
Q.
"My wife has a very high sex drive and mine is lower then it used to be. is. I've heard that some bodybuilding
supplements, turn out to have pro-sexual effects (or are at least marketed
that way). I'm just curious to know if anybody has taken any of these supplements discovered that they enhanced erections, increased sex drive, etc? Thanks for any and all your help."
A.
In the last few years, the herbal supplement industry has really come a long way in discovering products that truly work.
And, Yes, some people have reported enhanced performance, increased libido, and getting that extra "lift". I suggest you look info the effects of supplements such as Andro-Shock.
Q.
"I'm trying to find out how sex compares to other forms of exercise insofar as calories go."
A.
I've often heard the figure 150KCal/act quoted, though I've not seen a
citation to the original research. It seems unlikely that one can
rely on this figure, because it obviously doesn't distinguish between
the sexual equivalents of, say, marathons, sprints, the decathlon, or
the shot-put.
