When you make the decision to start bodybuilding there are a few things that you want to include in your routine. Always, begin with a positive mind set on success, a training schedule you can keep, a well balanced and nutritious meal plan, and a complete bodybuilding supplement program that fits your needs. Supplements can play an important role in a bodybuilders regime when added to a well thought out eating plan and workout routine.

Can Supplements Substitute A Well Balanced Diet

No. An effective bodybuilding program that consist of supplements will provide required nutrients, increase energy, enhance endurance, decrease muscle recovery time, burn fat, and assist in the development of lean muscle mass. Bodybuilding supplements are not a substitute for hard work or a well planned balanced diet.

What Supplements Should a Bodybuilding Program Include

There are some basic supplements that can be an important part of a bodybuilder's arsenal. Multi Vitamins, Glutamine, Whey Protein, and Creatine.

Multi Vitamins – Provides the essential vitamins and minerals our bodies require on a daily basis.

Glutamine – After completing a workout the body needs to replenish glutamine stores to aid in our bodies recovery. L-Glutamine can help increase muscle cell hydration and assist in protein synthesis, and can prevent muscle tissue breakdown. After training glutamine levels fall, and remain low until complete recovery.

Creatine – Pulls water into your muscles, and adds volume. Muscles contract harder when full, giving you more strength, endurance, and muscular development. The rate of muscle gain and fat loss is improved. Extra water helps cells rid themselves of waste, like lactic acid, which speeds up recovery.

However, creatine is an amino acid, and you must take in enough water with it or it will crystallize. Water consumption is critical, drink at least 120 oz of water every single day.

Whey Protein – Is a source of branched chain amino acids (BCAA). Bodybuilders use whey protein to increase muscle size, strength, and speed up recovery. Other benefits are increased lean muscle mass, and metabolic rate. Whey protein also works as an antioxidant to boost your immune system. There are three (3) main types of whey protein: Pure form is whey protein isolate; whey protein concentrate is not pure, and is a little higher in fat and lactose; and whey protein blend, a mix of isolate and concentrate.

Be sute to check with your doctor before starting your bodybuilding and supplement program.
