Is Creatine Worth Taking

The question whether taking creatine is a good idea or not needs to be qualified before a correct answer is given to the question is creatine worth taking or not? We will not be discussing the exact way that creatine works in your body and the potential benefits that you get from taking the very popular supplement.

It needs to be said here that the only way that you are going to get any noticeable benefits from taking creatine is by working hard in the gym. Intensity is everything when it comes to building strength and increasing the amount of muscle that you carry.

If you are not doing heavy squats, deadlifts or the bench press ahen you will be wasting your time and money taking creatine supplements. The pumping of creatine into your blood will only be necessary if there is an increased demand for energy and repair to the damaged muscle.

Over the years there have been many different studies done that have all conclusively proven that when you take creatine and you train using the principal of High Intensity Training (HIT) that you will dramatically increase the amount of muscle that you gain.

There are however a few basics that need to be in place to ensure that you get the advantage of having extra creatine circulating in your blood and the first of these is correct nutrition. You simply have no choice but to make sure that you are eating good quality protein at least four times a day.

The second is that you need to always make sure that you are correctly hydrated which will mean drinking as much as 2 gallons of water every 24 hours. Taking creatine can dehydrate your system so you need to make sure that all the extra fluid that is required is always available.

The last basic necessity is good quality sleep of at least 7 to 8 hours every night, which is actually not a rule that is the same for everyone as there are many people who can survive very well with only 6 hours of sleep which is something that will be genetic. The point is that you need to make sure that you are getting all the required rest and recuperation that you need.

In conclusion to finding the answer to the question of whether you should take creatine supplements or not is that if you are able to fulfill the above mentioned criteria then taking creatine supplements on a regular basis can definitely help you gain muscle.
