Good Powerlifting Training Cycle

Posted by: turbulence

Is this a good training cycle?

My max bench is 315, and my max squat is 330. i know it's weak. i weigh 215 with all my clothes on and after drinking water throughout my training. this powerlifter at my gym said this is a way to cycle my training to gain strength:
assume i'm going to do a 6 week cycle...
take 10 pounds off of my bench for each week i'm going to cycle. so...
week 1) 8 reps @ 255
week 2) 8 reps @ 265
week 3) 6 reps @ 275
week 4) 6 reps @ 285
week 5) 5 reps @ 295
week 6) 5 reps @ 305

for squat, i'm just supposed to take of 20 pounds/week instead of 10 pounds. basically, at the end of the cycle, i should be lifting 50-70 pounds more on my max lifts. does this seem good? i've been powerlifting for about 10 months, but i haven't had any direction or instruction, so i really haven't made any progress. i've just gained some weight (mostly fat). Le me know if you have any suggestions or comments. i'm looking to lose weight and get down to around 190-195 also.
