Is Eating Fish Healthy?
Fish is a good source of protein and, unlike meat, its fat
has health benefits. Omega 3 fatty acids found in certain
fish help to prevent and treat disorders of the body. Some
benefits are: keeping our cholesterol low, improving heart
health and helping in preventing autoimmune diseases.
Mackerel, sardines, albacore tuna and salmon are some fish
that are high in omega 3 fatty acids.
Eating Fish Can Help You Lose Fat
New research out of Australia reports that eating cold water
fish such as tuna, salmon, or other fish high in omega-3
fatty acids once a day can help you lose fat and improve
your overall health.
Researchers followed overweight men and women in a 4 month
study. Participants who ate a serving of fish containing
3.65 grams of omega-3 fatty acid as part of a fat loss
regimen lost fat, reduced their risk factors for diabetes,
and lowered their cholesterol level.
Healthy Fish Recipe
Grilled or broiled skinless Salmon
4 - 3 oz. servings
Wash salmon in cold water. Sprinkle 1/4 tsp. of each: salt,
fresh ground black pepper, chili powder and ground ginger
on to a plate. (Coat the plate with the spices.) Dredge the
salmon in the spices until both sides of fish are covered.
Put in a broiling pan and broil on high for five minutes.
Remove salmon from broiler and cover with aluminum foil.
Let sit for 15 minutes. The salmon will continue to cook
itself and retain its juices. Make sure the inside is
cooked through.
