John Grimek Arm Workout

Grimek's Great Guns
John Grimek had a great pair of guns – impressive, thick, big, and by
the way, natural. Born in 1910, Grimek competed and was at his peak
long before steroids found their way onto the muscle-building scene.
So Grimek's approach to arm training matters because he was one of
the guys to build big arms but who did so without the advantage of
chemical assistance.
We know that Grimek certainly didn't use steroids as his competitive
career wrapped up in 1949, (he won the AAU Mr. American title in
1940 and 1941, the only bodybuilder to ever take it twice) years
before steroids started circulating among the top bodybuilders. The
first use of steroids for sports, bodybuilding and muscle size
improvement seems to have occurred around the mid-1950s, so this all
points to the fact that John Grimek was doing something right,
naturally, to grow huge guns.
This makes the exercises that John used important. And when it came
to building his impressive triceps, there is one exercise that stands
out – the press. Grimek did not make the pillar of his triceps
training stand on some other triceps movement, but used them as
support movements, if at all.
The Single Best Tricep Exercise
His first choice for building up his triceps was to perform the
press. The press (in barbell or dumbbell form) was what he relied on
to spark big growth in the triceps. He believed that pressing was the
single best way to build exceptional triceps.
Grimek wasn't the only bodybuilder with big arms to favor the press
over other triceps exercises for building the arms up. Freddie Ortiz
had awesome triceps, and his number one movement for building them
was the seated behind the head press, a variation of the press
movement.
If you are looking for a way to take your triceps to the next level,
perhaps you don't need to focus on some fancy triceps movement but
rather simply start using the overhead press or one of its variations
to get the job done.
