Trap Bar Deadlift Benefits
The traps are a region that often go under-trained and sometimes
untrained but you want to target this area if you want a really
rugged build. And one of the best ways to work the traps is with a
contraption called the trap bar. This is a piece of iron that is
oval in shape, with handles on the interior and positions of each end
to put weight plates on. It is sometimes called the hex bar because
it has a hex type of shape, or the Gerard bar after its developer.
Step Inside & Lift Heavy
You stand in the middle area of the bar and pick it up to thigh
level. From here you shrug the weight load by flexing the traps for
repeated repetitions.
The biggest benefits with this move is that it puts less stress on
your spine and also allows you to lift extremely heavy weight loads.
That translates into strong growth in the traps region as the heavy
weight load works the traps hard and stimulates new size and
strength. The trap bar lets you lift very heavy weight loads with an
upright torso – something that doesn't occur too often with
traditional lifting.
Power
You will want to become familiar with the trap bar because studies
have shown it is one of the most effective ways for building power
into the trap region. The trap bar allows for more peak power to be
built up during your lifting.
