Vince Gironda 8x8 Workout
8 sets of 8 reps
Vince Gironda the Iron Guru called the 8x8 workout a high-intensity
method for advanced bodybuilders. He reffered to it as the "honest
workout" and said it maximized muscle size in the shortest time
Vince said about this system "8 X 8 will plump up your muscle fibers,
and give you much more dense solid muscle mass". He recommended that
you use just one exercise per body part and rest only 15-20 seconds
between sets. He also suggested "oxygen loading" taking 5-10 very
deep breaths between sets to get more oxygen in your blood which will
give you a better pump.
This workout will make you work at a much higher intensity level then
what you usually do. You will get an awesome pump and also a great
cardio vascular workout at the same time.
Sample Vince Gironda 8x8 Workout For Arms
Barbell Body Drag Curl 8 sets of 8 reps 15 to 20 seconds rest
Rope Tricep Pushdown 8 sets of 8 reps 15 to 20 seconds rest
You may have to decrease the poundage to complete all 8 sets of 8
reps. This is fine, but do not cheat and be sure keep the target
muscle under tension.
You arms should be aching and you should be out of breath after this
workout. The secret is to train hard and fast and then rest for 3 days
before training the same muscle group again.
