Suzanna McGee Interview

Article care of Don Lemmon

Whatever you have heard about Swedish girls being babes, that isn't even the start of it. They are so full of personality I almost can't stand it! Suzie here is absolutely charming and makes life seem so easy. Here is our conversation just as it was delivered via email. She lives in Venice Beach and works out at the World Famous Gold's. I have trained with her and since this put her on my diet. She's gotten amazingly stronger, leaner, bigger and has her clients doing the same thing. I see her reqularly so if you have questions, drop either her or I a line!

Q: You get about 5000 hits a month. How do you market yourself?
A: When I created my Web page, I put myself in AltaVista search engine, and later in Weights List. Soon people (fans) started to write and ask whether they can link me together with their sites. They were spreading the info about the Swedish Amazon among them and my page eventually got more and more hits.

Q: Nickname: 6 Ft Lion.... Where'd the name come from? I get the 6 Ft part. But you aren't exactly scary enough to me to be considered a lion!
A: So you got the 6 foot part! Lion, because I was born in August = Leo. And even if I am not scary, I am tough like a Lion. Cute big kittie, but don't ever rough me up. Roar!

Q: You were on Maury Povich.....
A: The subject was "Gender Bending Beauty Contest" and you really couldn't tell who was a man and who was a woman. The chance to get it right was small. His staff was nice to me, they liked the "always happy big girl on skates".

Q: Tell me about your dog. Peanut? (A pit bull.) Do you ever have to punish him for trying to eat other neighborhood critters or your friends?
A: No, I encourage her to get them and bring them home. Then I can get some extra protein... She is almost one year, mixed with a Lab, pretending to be a GOOD guard dog, barking and protecting, but if you jump at her, she pees. And her name? I have a passion for nuts.

Q: Tiger, he's on my homepage, a National martial arts champ, also roller skates. Actually, when in Venice, he skates there. I'd say he has a mohawk in dreadlocks and alot of tattoos, but that pretty much describes most of Venice's citizens! When did you begin and how'd you get so good?
A: Tiger, if he is a white boy, with long dreads, and tattoos even on his calves and back and everywhere, I know him. He is very good break-dancer on skates. I started three years ago, and because I am perfectionist, I hate not to be good, I practiced 3 hours a day, every day. Now, I only skate about 10-10 1/2 hours a week, more show-off than practice. And being strong, I am almost the only female who does breakdancing on skates down at the beach.

Q: You're Natural? Do not take drugs and never have? I was looking at your pictures and that's awfully impressive. GREAT physique.
A: Life time. Never done any enhancing drugs or prohormones. And never will. I believe that I would probably easily get to 220 lbs (I am almost 200lbs now) but then with all other side effect I would just turn into a nasty monster on drugs. I enjoy being big, but still looking like a woman, in my face or my butt. (My other nick name is Big-Butt!)

Q: You speak 4 other languages? Say "I am the Queen Of Metal. Let's Roller Boogie!" in each!
A: Jsem zelezna kralovna, dejme so do koleckove boogie!
Som zelezna kralovna, dajme sa do kolieskoveho boogie!
Jag ar en metall drottning, lat oss rullskridsko-boogie!

Q: You forgot one. You have a degree in computer science. If my computer freezes, do you have a computer tech line?
A: In case of freeze, put a hot pad on your computer baby. I could  possibly help with teaching you computer science. For freezes and wire problems, I have to have other people fix it.

Q: You have a pretty extensive bodybuilding and powerlifting resume. What is next?
A: Powerlifting is just something I do on the side. I just started and I don't feel like a powerlifter. It's good to do something different too, to shock my body. I also do a bit of Olympic lifting for the same reason. Modeling - I found I am slightly too big to be a model. Athletics, I'd like to try a few things. Eventually I will. I want to be model for drug free training (at least for women, you know, stay feminine).

Q: I am pretty fat and out of shape these days (just kidding) will you train me? Do you have your own gym? How much for a training session? You are a trainer.
A: I train everybody who is interested. You don't need me. I am a slave driver though (my clients say). Quiet and smiling, but I kill ya!  I do not have my own gym right now, I am an independent trainer at a local gym. I just established my life here in Venice, and was busy with other things than getting my own gym. I had to dance on skates, weightlift, compete, sun tan, eat peanut butter and so on. Eventually, when my life gets more boring (Will that ever happen??? As a Leo, I wonder!) I might settle down. MIGHT.

At this point I decided to retort her but did so by shouting for being so bad. Just kidding. I had the caps lock on by accident.....

Q: IT SEEMS THERE IS A HUGE INTERNET FOLLOWING FOR BODYBUILDING AND FITNESS IN AND FROM SWEDEN. I RECEIVE ALOT OF MAIL FROM THERE. WHAT IS IT LIKE IN EUROPE?
A: When I left Sweden 3 years ago, it just started to blow up. I lived North, kind of away from everything. People are very health conscious there, but the bodybuilding/fitness life style is definitely much bigger here in US. At least on the West coast here. But what I heard, it's growing in Europe too real big. I haven't been there last 3 years, so I am the wrong person to get an opinion from.

Q: SO PEANUT BUTTER IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITES. WHAT OTHER CHEAT FOODS DO YOU ENJOY AND WHAT IS A TYPICAL DIET FOR YOU?
A: I don't have that much other than peanut butter that is a cheat food. Everything that has peanut butter in it though. My latest discovery is Peanut Butter Fantasy Ice Cream and Peanut Butter Marshmallow Crispie Treats. My typical diet - 5-6 meals a day, each meal 50+ grams of protein, (the afterworkout meal has carbs, and breakfast too). The closer evening the less carbs. Fat about 40-50 grams. My daily percentage P-C-F is about 40-40-20, I am trying now to go more for 50-30-20 total but meal to meal it is different. I don't eat any bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, cookies and other sweets. Because I am that kind of person who cannot eat just one little piece. I eat the whole box. So I'd better not buy anything "bad" and I don't get tempted. It's difficult enough for me to cut down calories under 3000 a day. I have to fight with myself over it. But I must tell, when I finally decide in my head that it's time to get ready and start dieting, I am extremely disciplined and well organized.. Another use for my computer science knowledge... I put everything in spreadsheets and calculate on each bit of food I put in my mouth, every percentage, literally everything. SO I am learning all the time and each year my diet and results gets better and better. Because I want to do it all drug free, it's really important for me to be consistent.

Q: YOU ARE A GOOD EXAMPLE OF WHAT I PREACH CALORIE WISE. IT DEPENDS MORE UPON WHAT YOUR LEAN MASS LEVEL IS, NOT YOUR SEX AS TO HOW MANY DAILY CALORIES YOU REQUIRE. SPEAKING OF MEN AND WOMEN, A BEAUTY CONTEST IS AS MACHO AS IT GETS. ABOUT MAURY. HOW DID YOU GET TO BE ON THAT SHOW AND DID ANY ONE THINK YOU WERE A MAN? (FOOLS IF THEY DID!)
A: There was a lady in the audience who repeated "I don't want to hurt her feelings, but I think if she is a she, she is a man!" I was happy about that, I liked to fool them. I realized that lots of people don't realize that a woman can get pretty big with a proper (and dedicated) training and nutrition regime, so they think she must be a man. These people probably never seen an "enhanced" female bodybuilder either, ha ha ha ha!

Q: IS YOUR BOYFRIEND INTO WHAT YOU DO AND OR IS HE A BODYBUILDER? I ASK BECAUSE THIS FITNESS LIFESTYLE TENDS TO CONFLICT MANY RELATIONSHIPS.
A: I have a boy friend but I am a big flirt. But mostly I am like "the dog who barks but doesn't bite". I just got a new boy, 3 1/2 months ago. SO far it works very well. We are almost unbelievably compatible, both Leos, just 1 day between us. Both arrogant, loving the attention, loving training and healthy life style. He doesn't compete, but he used to play pro-football, and still goes to the gym every day and looks good. He's getting inspired to maybe compete next year. I am just trying to keep him off drugs (he is so tempted). And fitness relationships? True, it doesn't work well very often. Unless one is the "fitness freak" and the other one not and is completely ready to "serve and obey". Like we sometimes see these cute-big-boobie-babes hanging around big bodybuilder boys, taking all that crap and disrespect from them. The would love though to be "Mrs Next Year Mr Olympia" or girlfriend, so they go for it... The relationship would work when both are into it, pretty much the same and both are willing to work and sacrifice a bit for the other. Then it's not that much sacrifice, but actually it works well for both of them. Egos clash too.

Q: DOESN'T IT HURT TO BREAKDANCE ON PAVEMENT AND DOES THE SAND IN YOUR SHORTS BOTHER YOU IF DONE ON THE BEACH? HOW OLD ARE YOU?
A: If you hit your head, then you might feel it. And normally we refuse to do it in the sand, the wheels have some difficulties with rolling. But the sand in the pants in pretty fun sometimes. Don't ask how it gets there though. 34 last week, August 12, 1999.

Q: WHAT SUPPLEMENTS DO YOU USE ON A REGULAR BASIS AND WHAT ONES DO YOU LIKE BUT ONLY OCCASIONALLY USE?
1) Whey protein.
2) Tons of vitamin C - the chewable Cherry flavor, yum, yum, I eat it like candies. Maybe about 10 grams a day. Because I work out so much, including my rollerdancing and walking my dog and active life style, I feel it helps me to recover, and never get sick.
3) Flax seed oil, if we want to call it a  supplement.
4) Multivitamin, I often forget to take it though.
5) When I don't have time to prepare a meal, or I need to eat while skating or something: A Meal Replacement or Bar.

Q: WHAT LANGUAGES WERE THE THINGS I ASKED YOU TO SAY IN? I WANT TO USE THOSE LINES THE NEXT TIME I AM IN VENICE BUT I NEED TO LEARN TO SAY KING INSTEAD OF QUEEN.
A: Czech, Slovak, Swedish.
Jsem zelezna kralovna, dejme so do koleckove boogie! Czech
Som zelezna kralovna, dajme sa do kolieskoveho boogie! Slovak
Jag ar en metall drottning, lat oss rullskridsko-boogie! Swedish

Q: WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT TRAINING LIKE THESE DAYS?
A: My workout is now 5 days a week with weekends off so I am free for rollerdancing (fri-sun about 8 hours). Lately I've been including in each workout: warm-up with lunges, 4 sets of 20-30reps (starting 95 lbs, finishing 155 lbs) butt machine 4 sets, calves 4 sets, abs 4 sets, and now also biceps (I am trying to shock these muscles, land get them big. I hate it, but trying to change my attitude, so I try to train them every day for a bit... we'll see for how long I will do that). So this is in each workout, and then I include one muscle group on top of that: Monday shoulders, Tuesday back, Wednesday chest, Thursday legs, Friday arms, or missing parts. Olympic lifting on Tue and Thur. I also walk my dog 1-2 times a day, 30-60 min. Tue afternoon rollerdancing. I gotta be good with getting my rest/sleep, because otherwise I get tired very soon. So I normally nap after my after workout meal. That feels so good when trying to grow.

Q: WHAT DO YOU DO TO RELAX? WHAT WAS THE LAST CD YOU BOUGHT? LAST MOVIE YOU SAW? LAST BOOK YOU READ?
A: Reading, listening to music (and shaking the bootie), go out to the ocean and just relax, walk my doggie. Watching TV a bit - mostly these crazy day soap opera shows, while eating. Movies I don't watch that often. Unless it's really good, I get easily bored... Last CD? Snoop Dog "The Top Dog". I love hip-hop (and R&B). Not that much for the lyrics but for the groove, I just love the beat. 2Pac is my favorite hip-hop artist. Snoop too, R.Kelly I fall asleep to. Last book? I am reading right now "The Uncommon Conversation with God, Part 3".  My previous book was "Intelligence Of Dogs", and something else about dog training.

Q: YOU SAID YOU WANT TO MODEL? I WOULD THINK YOUD BE PRETTY MARKETABLE. SO WHY DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO?
A: Oh, I'd like to model. I just realized I am not suitable to be a fashion model, I could be a fitness model. Eventually I'll make some more efforts to get into it again. About 2 years ago, I had an agent, was getting some work, but I was not that happy about the percentage of spent time, so I put it on hold. I did a National Lipton Iced Tea commercial last year, which was great... And then I've been just waiting to get in better shape, to get new pictures done and start all over again. As a perfectionist, I always think I could improve a bit, so I am postponing it all.

Q: YOU MUST HAVE AN ACCENT. BUT WHAT LANGUAGE BEST DESCRIBES THAT ACCENT?
A: I guess Swedish, and a Czech person can recognize the Czech accent too. A Swede can hear a little Czech accent when I speak Swedish though. A Czech hears some Swedish accent when I speak Czech (that's my native language). So I guess I am screwed up (LOL)

Q: THESE QUESTIONS TIRING YOU OUT?
A: Oh, I got almost sweaty how much I was writing. Gotta get ready for the gym, and then I plan to do a long bike ride, just relaxing. I never do that, I use my bike often as a transportation, so I am going to enjoy. And then I have to go to the beach to dance on skates. Busy day, huh? I am already done with my clients, it was awfully early start- 6:30 AM and 7:30 AM. My brain does not work that well in mornings, but I believe in your editing pen in saving the interview.

Q: (Stopped hollaring, LOL) Did you find any sites online linked to you that really surprised you?
A: No, not really. It's mostly fitness, bodybuilding, rollerskating places. Some wrestling too, and probably all the other kinds of places I'd better not know about, huh? Maybe then I couldn't handle the surprise? Honestly, I haven't search that much for places linked to me.

Q: Who are your favorite sites?
A: Don't have any favorite there. From bodybuilding links I like pretty much Michael Sullivans links, he has great info there and links to "everywhere". Or my favorite links, generally? Amazon.com - guess if I am shopping books? AltaVista - yes, I do lots of search. These I always come back to. And then I have temporarily favorite links, which I don't remember right now, at all.

Q: You like peanut butter. What about tahini and almond butter too? Any other favorites? What do you most often cheat with?
A: I've tried other butters - cashew (because I love cashew nuts), almond, sunflower. Peanut butter is though my friend number one. Crunchy, honey roasted...Mmm! Other cheat food? I like Thai food, and muffins. I have a cheat day today, and 14 muffins baking in the stove. Oat bran, yum, yum... I've already eaten my nut-ice cream.

Q: You finally met Tiger for sure the other day (he is on my homepage). Now that you know who he is, tell me what your impression is.
A: Well, my impression did not change that much, because I still don't know him personally at all. From the little I know about him, he seems like a very nice, skilled person, interacting very friendly with other people. He is probably a very nice person to hang out with.

Q: You're great. We shall talk soon.
A: OK. Gotta go back to the stove now, and get these muffins out, and shovel them in my stomach... I'll let you know later how sick they made me, OK?
