The Best Assistance Exercises to Improve Bench Press

If you want to improve your bench press try these assistance exercises, they increase the strength of your stabilizer muscles and to also give you more pushing power!

You don't need to do all these exercises, just pick the ones that work your weak points in the bench press, work them hard and you will see you bench press numbers increase.

Close Grip Bench Press - Lie on the bench and take shoulder width grip on the barbell. Lower the weight to your lower chest with your elbows close to your body. Push barbell up until arms are fully straight. Repeat for reps.

Reverse Grip Bench press - In this exercise you holds the barbell with your palms facing up. When you use a reverse grip it forces your elbows to stay close to your sides and works your triceps harder.

Dumbbell Bench Press - This helps because it works your stabilizer muscles, also it allows a better stretch at the bottom and a greater contraction at the top.

Dumbbell Fly or Peck Dec - Will increase the strength and pushing power of your pectoral muscles which will help you to bench press more.

Triceps Pushdown - Grasp the pushdown bar with a narrow overhand grip. Hold your elbows at your sides, and while making sure to not lean forwards, extend arms down until they are straight. Return to starting position and repeat for reps.
