Although burning fat and putting on muscle don't usually go together it can also be changed specifically to increase the fat burning capacity that you have in your diet and exercise program to achieve these specific objectives. The first thing that you should do is design a workable plan that you can stick to.

There are certainly some scientifically proven ways of benefiting from doing certain exercises at certain times of the day. For example a study that was done revealed conclusively that the best time of day to do cardio work is first thing in the morning before you eat breakfast.

The study showed that fit males between 21 and 27 years would increase their ability to burn fat when exercising cardio workouts without eating. But cardio should be something that is low intensity if you want to pick up muscle and this mean training at around 60% of your maximum heart rate.

Another recent study showed that getting 30 grams of whey protein before and after a workout can increase the protein synthesis by up to 400%. Whey protein has half of its content filled with the essential amino acids that are needed to make a complete protein.

It is good advice to take 2 tablespoons of flaxseed oil or fish oil capsules every day in order to provide the Omega-3 that you need to grow muscle and burn fat fast. A great fat burner is citrus aurantium (bitter orange) which you will see is contained in a lot of powder mixtures for making a smoothie for fat-loss.

Caffeine has also proved itself in studies to help speed you fat metabolism and mobilize body fat. Other products that will do that are green tea, yerba mate and a few others that will increase the rate at which your metabolism processes food.

But the basics are the best way to get results, always have been and always will be. These basics are eating high quality protein meals with complex carbohydrates at least 5 times a day. This requires planning and putting a stop to the impulse eating if you want to lose fat fast.

Water is needed for every process in your body and you should make sure that you are drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. Drinking more than that will get you faster results and also keep you from getting hungry so it is a vitally important part of losing fat.
