Weight Loss For Wrestling

Posted by: Ky Smith (SKS4RACING@YAHOO.COM)

My normal wieght is 130's and i'm trying to make it to 119's so that I can make varsity. How's the best way to do it, and what should my weekly diet be?

Cutting weight is never easy, but you should definately listen to your coaches when they tell you not to starve. Don't skip breakfast, make dinner your smallest meal, get enough carbs, and don't dehydrate yourself for too long to make weight. I'm supposed to tell you never dehydrate yourself, but thats a fantasy thats not part of cutting weight. If you do have to resort to dehydration, make sure you rehydrate directly after weigh ins, or it WILL affect your performance.

It may sound weird, but try eating 6 small meals a day starting when you get up. Good things like cottage cheese, tuna fish, yogurt, then make your 6th meal a good filling one. THe idea is to trick your metabolism into a higher gear. Read up on it if you dont get what I mean. Keep a good circuit training program going, too as well as your cardio. Keep your head up, don't quit, you'll see the results!! [Submit a follow up message]
