Mike Mentzer Theory of High Intensity Training

Posted by Glenn

Hello Paul,

As you were a student of Mike Mentzer and I am into his theory, would you be up for sharing some thoughts on his approach? I'm struggling to find my own truth in it and what works for me.

Thanks!

Yours sincerely,

Glenn

The theory of high intensity training is valid:

1) You have to push yourself to make progression, that is more reps, more weight or both.

2) You can train long or you can train hard but you can't do both.

3) If you train too long or too often, you will over train and hold back progress.

Putting this into practice on an individual basis means you have to take into account your own personal training expedience that is how long you've been training, your strength levels, your exercise tolerance and your recovery ability.

I actually wrote a whole book about Mike Mentzer training and how to adjust it so that it works for you, see https://www.trulyhuge.com/mike-mentzer-book.html

If you have any other questions about Mike Mentzer or High Intensity Training email me and I'll get back to you with an answer as quick as I can.
