Heavy or Light Weights for Hypertrophy

Posted by Mohamed

Hello,

A question regarding Mike Mentzer HIT Training.

Do I need to use low weight or higher weight for maximum intensity?

Kind regards,

Mohamed

It's more somewhere in the middle.

If you use too heavy a weight you will only be able to do a few reps which builds more pure strength rather than muscle size.

And if you use too light a weight you will be able to do too many reps which builds more endurance rather than muscle size.

Most people use a weight that they can do for somewhere between 8 to 12 reps.

For maximum intensity you simply do as many reps as you can while keeping in good form.

If you want to learn how to do high intensity training the right way, checkout my new book on Mike Mentzer and High Intensity Training at https://www.trulyhuge.com/mike-mentzer-book.html

If you have any other questions about Mike Mentzer or High Intensity Training email me and I'll get back to you with an answer as quick as I can.

Best,

Paul
