How To Gain Weight And Muscle The Healthy Way

If you are reading this article then you will be very aware of the difference between weight-gain, fat-gain and muscle-gain. These can often get mixed up when we start talking about weight-gain so it is important to note that in this article we are talking specifically about muscle-gain.

The only way to gain muscle which is going to last as long as you continue training is the healthy way. Whatever you may or may not have heard about steroids putting on muscle is simply not true because at the very best steroids will help you an extra 10% but no more than that.

The healthy way is the only way to gain muscle and it starts and ends with one simple explanation and that is progressive resistance. There is the wonderful and famous story about Milo who wanted to compete in the Olympic Games over 300 years ago.

To cut a very long story short he decided to walk to town where he had a job as a carpenter carrying a new born calf on his back. After two years he was still carrying the now fully grown bull on his back and he was strong enough to win any competition he put his mind to at the Olympic Games.

Along with training regularly and training correctly using correct technique and execution of all exercises, you also need to eat correctly. This is vitally important to get the results that you want and it does not mean eating more, it means eating more often.

Healthy food is the only way that you are going to put on good quality muscle. You should work out the specific requirements that you need in order to achieve your goals. This means the amount of calories separated into carbohydrates, proteins and fats.

It is important to immediately stop the impulse eating that you may or may not have been doing until now. If you want to put on muscle you need to eat at least five times a day good quality protein, complex carbohydrates and a little saturated fat.

If you find this kind of thing difficult to start with because you are waiting for that chance to binge on junk food, it helps a lot if you drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. It is important to think and plan your meals ahead so that your meals are prepared before you leave home for the day.
