Chocolate Protein Shake Recipes

Chocolate Protein Shake Recipes

It’s hard to find a decent Chocolate Protein Powder that taste good and doesn’t have too much of that chalky taste to it. The Chocolate Bio-Available Protein seems to be the best tasting chocolate powder I’ve tried so far. It also seems to mix well into any shake recipe I’ve tried so far. Many of the other powders seem to have a hard time fully incorporating into the mix and I end up with floating protein sludge at the top of my shake.

Everyone loves chocolate (most people anyway), so when it comes to making a chocolate protein shakes there are a few things you should keep in mind to make sure you recipe is a keeper.

Many people get burnt out on drinking the same plain chocolate protein shake. A good way to eliminate this problem is to add other ingredients to your shake recipe. There are many add-ins for chocolate protein shakes. These are my favorites:

Top 5 Best Chocolate Protein shake Add-ins:

1. Peanut Butter

Chocolate and peanut butter are always great together. The peanut butter thickens the shake and adds another layer of flavor. It’s also great for those looking to add muscle, two tablespoons of peanut butter contains on average eight grams of protein, which helps to build muscle. It also contains six grams of carbs, which helps your body utilize that protein. Almond butter or cashew butter are also highly recommended if you don’t want to use regular peanut butter.

2. Sugar-free Chocolate Pudding

This will give your shake a richer chocolate flavor and also thickens it up a bit without adding sugar to the recipe. You could experiment with other pudding mixes as well. Banana and vanilla pudding added some great flavor as well.

3. Mint

Chocolate and mint are another one of those flavor combinations that just work. Adding a little bit of mint extract to you shake can give a nice refreshing flavor to the shake. Just be careful not to add too much. Start off with a few drops and then scale up if needed. Otherwise, you’ll have a shake that taste more like a pack of halls and less like a peppermint patty.

4. Fruit

Fruit is, of course, great in just about any protein shake recipe. But there are a few fruits that seem to taste better in the chocolate shakes. The best fruits we found are; Blueberries, Strawberries, Cranberries and Bananas. Frozen fruit seems to work better than fresh fruit for shakes, and can last a long time in the freezer. Try different combinations to keep things interesting (I like strawberry and banana the best).

5. Yogurt

Specifically, Greek Yogurt. Greek yogurt is different to the regular kind because it has been strained to make it much thicker and creamier and in turn making your shake thicker and creamier. Also, due to it’s high protein content, Greek yogurt can help with weight loss by making you feel fuller for longer.

Protein Shake Making Tips:

As always, you’re welcome to alter the Protein Shake Recipe to your needs; as it is a pretty flexible recipe that tastes delicious. Equally, it is a fantastic, healthy alternative to a milkshake, and as you can see by the ingredients, it has a lot of natural oils, as well as that little bit of sweet needed to keep you and your plans on track.

I normally mix the Protein while the other ingredients are blending, so that I do not have to scrape it off of the sides. Equally, this will ensure that it gets incorporated evenly, and prevents any grainy texture. You can add the Protein at the same time you add the Coco Powder, and being that they are both dry ingredients you can mix the two together, and then pour it slowly within the blender.

Feel free to experiment with different flavor combinations and add-ins to stop yourself from getting burnt out on the same old protein shake. Chocolate Protein Shake Recipes don’t need to be complicated, they just need to be good.
