BENCHING
Posted by: Adam Azarian (azo8o4@aol.com)

Hi , I am 15 years of age and i weight about 165 lbs. I am 6' 1". I was taught to only bench every 3 days to give my muscles a rest.I was also taught to bench with heavy weights and a low amount of reps. I was just wondering if that is the best way of lifting for me if i would like to gain weight and hard muscle?

MORE WEIGHT!
Posted by: Ron (veedubu91@hotmail.com)

Im 19 years old and i have been working out off and on for a few years now. never very consistant. I am 5'7 and 147lbs. I would like to get to about 160. I eat alot of meat and other protein foods and i work out hard about 3 times a week. I don't take any type of creatine or so, but i was wondering if that would help me gain.

Re: MORE WEIGHT!
Posted by: Dan (BigDan2045@aol.com)

I read your problem and i was once in the same situation. I am currently 18 years old, and still a senior in high school. I've played football all 4 years of high school being about the average size for my position. I felt that I had to do something else besides just lifting without supplements. I have been lifting consistently since about sophmore year. I decided to give creatine a try, and I acceled alot from it. For instance, at the beginning of Junior year I was benching about 190. I had been on creatine at that point for a few weeks and hadn't noticed anything different, but by the end of junior year i was benching 250. And right now I am up to 310 which is such a difference from just 1 year ago. So with this information my suggestion is to try a creatine supplement out and see what happens. It may not have the same effect as it did for me, but i would still give it a shot.

STRECH MARKS
Posted by: jb stretch (jmb@sstelco.com)

I have been lifting regularly for about 3 years now. I started going heavy about a year ago to up my bench max. I got up to 310 and started noticing strech marks from my left upper pec. It started there and has been dramatically running across my shoulder and down my bicep. I want to get bigger and stronger so therefore I dont want to give up the heavy weight. Is there any answers to preventing these marks from extending further.

BOWFLEX USERS

I'm thinking of buying a Bowflex and wanted some firsthand info from current users as to whether it works or not. It looks smooth and easy to use and you can work muscles at different angles. I normally use dumbbells at the gym, but can't seem to get three regularly. I would appreciate any input from current Bowflex owners. Thanks!

HUGE TRAPS AND SHOULDERS
Posted by: Turtle Boy

i just got done with football , and i'm trying to get a "turtle shell" by getting my sholders and traps huge. what lifts and exercises can i do to accomplish this goal of an uncanny neck?

Re: HUGE TRAPS AND SHOULDERS
Posted by: Matt Simpson (mattsimpson99@hotmail.com)

One of the best weight training exercises to work the traps and acheive the "turtle shell" look is lateral raises. To do this you, Stand with your feet slightly spread, keep your back straight and your arms hanging at your sides with one dumbbell in each hand. Raise the dumbbells to shoulder level, keeping your elbows slightly bent.

WEIGHT LOSS FOR WRESTLING
Posted by: Ky Smith (SKS4RACING@YAHOO.COM)

My normal wieght is 130's and i'm trying to make it to 119's so that i can make varsity. Hows the best way to do it and what should my weekly diet be.

Re: WEIGHT LOSS FOR WRESTLING
Posted by: Frank (ShiranuaiRageX@aol.com)

I also am a wrestler and have learned about a diabetic diet because both of my parents are diabetic. I was skeptical at first but I tried it and it worked. I wrestle 145 which is my minimum weight. I started dropping from 164 which is about 19 pounds. The diabetic diet has a lot to do with bread exchanges and calorie intake. If you consult a physician about it they would be able to get you a diet based on what weight you want to be at. I hope this helps you out. Good luck the rest of the season.

Re: WEIGHT LOSS FOR WRESTLING
Posted by: Steve (crackdown5@aol.com)

Cutting weight is never easy, but you should definately listen to your coaches when they tell you not to starve. Don't skip breakfast, make dinner your smallest meal, get enough carbs, and don't dehydrate yourself for too long to make weight. I'm supposed to tell you never dehydrate yourself, but thats a fantasy thats not part of cutting weight. If you do have to resort to dehydration, make sure you rehydrate directly after weigh ins, or it WILL affect your performance.

GETTING STUCK ON BENCH PRESS
Posted by: Cheese (ccc1007@psu.edu)

I'm 19, weight 195, 5'10" tall, and bench around 315. When I'm benchpressing, I always get stuck when the bar is about 2-3 inches from my chest. I usually need a spotter to help me at this point, but after I get it above that 2-3 inch range, I can get the weight totally by myself. I usually get stuck like this on the last two reps of my set. Is it my chest, triceps, shoulders, back, or something else? Any help would be appreciated.

NUTRITION
Posted by: Chike Ochiagha (qbkiller94@msn.com)

hello, i'm 5'10" 250 lbs 19 year old college football player. for my size i'm pretty solid, and i have good strenth. the last piece of the puzzle for me is nutrition. do you know of any CHEAP, foods that will help me get cut without making me fat. And its really hard for me to take time out of my schedule to sit down and eat a good nutritious meal. I need a good body building snack on the go, that would hit me too hard in the wallet( so no protein bars...too expensive)

Re: NUTRITION
Posted by: Omar (rotovar@msn.com)

I take Optimum Nutrition's 100% whey protien. Two scoops are packed with 40 grams of protien, and very low carbs. The stuff if very cheap ($25 for 5 lbs.) and comprable to all the designer protien on the market right now. It's easy to mix - I just add two scoops to about 8 oz. of water in a water bottle, shake, and drink. I also eat a lot of chicken, and eggs - whic are cheap. From this, I gained 30 lbs. of mass and feel great. Good luck, Omar Tovar - El Paso, Texas.

MY NECK
Posted by: Tim (Blnkpr182@aol.com)

I really want the "no neck" look. I was wondering what exercises I can do at the gym and at home to improve my neck size. Also, how often can I work my neck?

Re: MY NECK
Posted by: (dogeatdog@gnc.com)

Here's a good one lay backwards on the bench so your neck bends just over the edge and put a weight plate on your forehead (use a shirt for pading)and in a slow controlled motion raise it up and down 3x15 may have to use less weight at first and work up.....this is the same exersize Goldburg does.

DUNKING
Posted by: Ilya (brooksoccer15@netscape.net)

I am a freshman and i am 5'6. I was wondering how i could improve my vertical leap(improve my "ups")so i can dunk. Anyone have any sudjestions pleasy reply.

Re: DUNKING
Posted by: Andy Pitzen (a_pitzen@yahoo.com)

when I played high school ball I used jump squats to help me increase vertical. What you do is start off real lite and place a barbell on your back (make sure you do this in some sort of cage) support the bar with your hands and jump with a slight knee bend. Try to jump as high as you can. As you progress go heavier. Also, try regular squats getting the full range of motion( your butt should almost touch the ground). Something else that I used was jumps which is going under the hope and continously tapping the backboard till your calves feel like they are going to explode. Hope this helps.

Re: DUNKING
Posted by: adam (amwxx@hotmail.com)

The best thing you can do is just pratice jumping, you probably wont see results at first but just keep praticing, its boring and simple but pratice is the best way to get better at something.

Re: WEIGHT LOSS
Posted by: Douglas Quaid (dirtymeany@hotmail.com)

The only way I found to loose wieght but keep the strength was jogging. Start at one mile for a couple of weeks, 1.5, then 2. I'm up to 3 miles now, about to go to 3.5 and I just weighed in at 220. It took about 3 months but I didn't run everyday and I was pretty keen on the low fat food, but I could have been more agressive. My arms are still 17", chest etc. except ,my legs have leaned out a little more. Good luck!

Re: HYDROXYCUT
Posted by: LJ (kidzcoach@sbcglobal.com) 1/29/2003

(kidzcoach@sbcglobal.com) on Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at 21:32:01 I come from a fitness background and have recently tried the hydroxy product. I was never over weight just over fat. I used the supplement to help me define and sculp my body. I lost my stubborn 10 lbs and gained definition which was noticable within weeks while at the same time I gained even more motivation to work-out and return to an excellent level of fitness. However the effects of supplements work differently for everyone but I would definitely say it's worth a try considering you don't have any physical aliments that may interfere with the Hydroxy formula. First things first, always consult your physician before taking any supplement containing any potential life threatening side effects like (ephedrine) which is found in HydroxyCut. I hope this helped!
